editing practical

For this editing blog task, my aim was to make a short “
silent film” which was a certain film type which particular peaked in between 1894-1929 due to their lack of resources to make functional coloured film with audio dialogue. The main factors i used in this scene was to strip the clips from its colour reducing it to black and white which was the traditional colour for these films.varied between different shots such as tracking and panning shots as well as birds eye view followed by the typical medium shots. I’ve also muted all the clips as previously stated that silent films had no audio based dialogue but instead they and myself used a song clip which typically was composed of classical music. This was non dietetic as the actors weren’t able to hear this. It was also parallel due to the tranquillity set at the start followed by shocking scenes which built up tension (enigma/action codes)when the song changes its tempo. I also included the text panel in order for the audience to understand the context of the situation.

note there is dialogue but just not audio dialogue, yes i followed the requirements, i think.
script:this is included within the video (you'll see how)

Shot list:

opening-title card opens-this then cuts to a medium long shot where the camera is stationary whilst the model is walking, the camera then does an invisible cut-this is now a panning shot but from a different angle-switches to a close up of the actor grabbing the door-whilst opening the door it then cuts to the other side- once they go through the door it switches to a tracking birds eye view shot switches to an extreme shot which is angled the same length as his body this is also panning- it then cuts back to the black cards to show dialogue and then engages in a sequence of shot reverse shots- it eventually ends with a panning shot of the opposing person running away

opening: panel of introduction, film starts with a medium shot of me walking from behind, cuts to the same scene from a different angle, switches to another angle where i grab the door frame and open it, the camera then cuts to inside the room where the door finishes opening(up to now these are all medium shots), birds eye view of me opening walking in the room, back to medium shot of me walking, cuts ahead of me in a medium shot medium shot gets further back/long shot, then switches to a transition of shot/reverse shot, finally switches to a tracking/pan shot of the character running away.

planning: We didn't have a specific story line planned however we did film everything accordingly to the specifications whilst being able to each add a completely different story line. We recorded a sequence of match cuts, cross cuts and a different shots without physical dialogue however we did agree to come up with a plan on how we can each carry out the specification of dialogue without actually using words.
