film poster analysis

In this cover, there are many details I can unpack. At first glance, I thought that this cover was set in space due to the lack of lighting and sudden bursts of lights that could represent stars. and at the bottom I thought there were satellites surrounding a "spaceship" after looking deeper into the poster, I discovered that contrary to my belief of the movie being in space but in fact seemed to be in a futuristic version of the earth which I think is after some tragedy. The reason I think this is due to the lack of lighting which affects the mise en scene. Furthermore, what I found to be satellites were actually futuristic-looking buildings, and the so-called "spaceship" I saw I now am starting to think it was a flying car of some sort. In general, I think that there was a good usage of mise en scene however I feel as if different people might connotate different things. Moving on, The best connotation of this poster is the link between the title and the two characters introduced at the top left of the screen. What I mean is if we look deeper into the meaning of this it unveils a whole different meaning. When you first glance at the man right at the top you see that he is carrying a stern look on his face this is reinforced by a close-up camera shot which is usually used to build tension and suspense. under him, there is a person with "non-human characteristics" that seems to be chasing someone. Going back to the person at the top, He has been positioned to look as if he was hiding from something whereas the person under him has been positioned to look as though they are chasing someone. This is reinforced by the fact the movie itself is called blade runner which if we look into the word "runner" it is a myth that they are being chased. In conclusion, this is an action/Sci-Fi hybrid genre film and I would think their target audience is anyone above the age of 16.

Based on the cover, this film looks like a hybrid genre based on a mix of costumes and settings
within the cover . We can see a group of teenagers with frightened looks on their faces. They seem scared however the ironic shirts make them seem as though they are conscious of being in a horror movie which could be hinting towards a "fourth wall break". Furthermore, the t-shirts contain references from older horror movies which is dramatic irony this is also used from the characters in the background as the people behind what seems to be the main cast are also disguised as characters representing other horror films. The masthead of the film contrasts against itself as the poor vocabulary used for "scary movie" connotes that this movie isn't a serious movie like other horror movies and has taken a more comedic approach finalized by a quote at the top "absolutely hilarious".Overall, I felt as though this film poster has good usage of mise-en-scene as it has given me plenty of information to analyze. however, I don't think that I could pin down what would happen in this film as it seems unpredictable as you'd expect most films of this hybrid to be. As previously stated I have found it pretty clear that this film consists of a mix of the two genres (comedy and horror). What I find Interesting is that the tile connotes both a jokey comedic atmosphere as well as a small horrific feel. Their choice of clothing also reinforces the genre as they do contain quotes you could link to a horrific genre however it also contains a comedic sense. I find that this film is targeted toward young adults as well as horror fans due to the references from past horror movies meaning they will be able to feel involved and will pick up on some references to make the film more enjoyable. I think that although people who enjoy horror movies usually don't enjoy other genres (vice versa) there is going to be a wider audience range due to the hybrid genre of the clashing horror and comedy.

The first thing I realized when I saw this film poster is that, unlike most movie posters, it has a type of film poster style that contrasts with most film posters as they are usually made horizontally whereas the layout for this cover is horizontal. At first, I thought that this is just how Turkish film posters are made until I searched for Turkish film posters to find that they were all vertical as usual. My second thought was that is something only applied to older Turkish posters although this wasn't the case. Now I feel that the poster being horizontal is made with a deeper meaning to emphasize the connotations involved in this poster. When I first saw this poster, the first clear thing that appeared to me was the fact this was a film mostly directed toward a war-type film. My main reason of thinking this isn't as clear as I thought aside from the energy I feel from the photo. the smoke correlates to bombings/fighting and the whole poster is covered in a barely recognizable filter which I picked up on in which I felt linked to the death of soldiers with the red signifying their blood. what I found interesting is that in this film, I have found that with the promotion of the movie there were two separate posters (one being the one provided), and the one we weren’t given was more filled with color which brings a completely different genre and storyline to it as the main concepts that made there film seem war based have disappeared. What I found also contrasted with the gory war genre was that the quote had an emotional sense as if it could be a sad romantic sense which is also reinforced by the character standing solemnly in the snow watching into the distance to end this off I think that it's hard to pinpoint the exact way the film will play out due to all the hidden annotations and sometimes myths that clash with each other.

This poster doesn’t have as much to analyse as it doesn’t contain much. It consists of a boy with a worried look on his face as he looks into a hole surrounded by hay bales and dead tree branches. Usually, when a hole is covered up by hay and dead tree branches it is a myth that something is being hidden or is a set-up trap. In this case of the poster, it looks like something no one should have come across has been revealed due to the shocked expression on his face. Followed by the fact that this film is titled “I’m not scared” heavily reinforces that there is something to be scared of therefore leading us to believe that this consists of a horror genre. However, this is opposed by the title is bold and coated in gold which isn’t typically used for a horror poster. this makes me feel as if this is a hybrid film but it's clear to outcast the comedic genre. I mentioned this to compare it to the scary movie because you can tell this film poster has taken a more serious approach especially because of the chosen quotes put on the poster as they compliment the cinematography and acting skills. Therefore I have concluded that this film is made to be in the horror genre along with one other, most likely thriller.

The first thing I noticed in this poster is the lack of writing on it. I feel like this was in order to promote the suspense and to clearly introduce us to the action genre. what i find intriguing is that the little writing they had consisted of the better known actors in order to promote their movie to fans. What i find interesting is that the actors are all known from different film genres so it is useful inorder to attract a wider audience range. The other bit of writing i mentioned thats visible is the title "sin city"  you can link this to a demonic type of atmosphere which once again promotes the  action packed feeling. the scene is also dark and gloomy which can reflect on how the film will play out. I have also found that the main focus of this film poster being the fearsome looking group empower negative stereotypes towards women as it seems to be the men that are armed and equipped with weapons whilst the female cast are weaponless and more designed in a seductive style of clothing. However after looking at other posters for this franchise i have found that there is a separate poster which contradicts my previous statements as it solemnly consists of a singe female actress in possession of a knife ready to kill.

In this film it has clearly brought the theme upon the audience which is pirates. They have heavily succeeded in carrying out the presentation of the poster by using many things. For example they have a group of three people who look as if they were nothing alike each other but one of these actors are seen as a stereotypical pirate (the beard, hat, every recognisable “pirate feature) Next to the pirate there is a more civilian-like character with a sort of face that implies he isn’t happy. The final person on that row is a well dressed woman. The three characters are all around the same age and tge fact they are in the main poster shows that these are the main characters. Most likely this film will be about a pirate rebel running from the law (the man in the middle) who also happens to sway a normal city girl and bring her with him.Furthermore, we can see that at the top the actors names are there but not as bold or visable as other posters dispite these actors being well known across the world. The reasoning for this is because as we can see on the poster this film has been produced by disney. As we know disney is probably one of if not THE biggest film company therefore unlike the other posters they don’t have to worry as much with promoting the film with the names of well known people since they already have a large loyal fanbase who will watch anything produced by them as long as it is visually pleasing which is clearly what they have focused on more.

In this film poster, we are intoduced to a female who has her back turned at an angle in order to look strong and intimidating i feel that the main reason they have done this is because based of this fact alone it sends as tbh their movie is female dominated and has been produced in a way to contradict the normal female stereotype by casting a muscular female as the main character which we do not see often. Hidden within the saftey of the shadows on both her left and right we can see two men with a face filled with anger which helps connote they are afyer this woman as she seems isolated whereas the two seem as though they share the same goal
